World's Fair Cleanup Parade, 2011
For a contemporary reinterpretation of a photo from the archive of the Department of Sanitation taken in 1940 to promote the second year of the World's Fair, I re-staged Times Square sanitation workers dancing with Broadway showgirls. This image was exhibited at the Times Square Visitors Center as a digital projection, along with complimentary postcards. The photograph was part of a project organized by “The Work Office (Two)”, a multidisciplinary art project disguised as an employment agency informed by the Works Progress Administration.
